Milk Maid® Caramel Chocolate Cake

Ingredients
14 oz of Brach’s® Milk Maid® Caramels
1 box Devil’s Food cake mix (plus ingredients per instructions on box)
7 oz semisweet chocolate chips
4 Tbls unsalted butter (½ stick)
1/3 cup whole milk
1 tub (16 oz) dark chocolate frosting
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly butter 9”x13” pan; set aside.
Prepare cake mix according to instructions on the box, pour half of batter into prepared pan and bake for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, in heavy saucepan melt unwrapped caramels, butter and milk over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
Remove cake from oven and pour caramel mixture on top.
Top with chocolate chips and cover with remaining cake batter.
Return cake to oven for 30-35 minutes and bake until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
Let cake cool completely then frost with slightly warmed frosting.
Allow cake to set for about 1 hour then cut into slices and serve.
