Milk Maid® Caramel Apples
Prep Time: 30 Minutes Cook Time: N/A Total Time: 30 Minutes Yield: 6-8 depending on size of the apples
Ingredients
14 oz of Brach’s® Milk Maid® Caramels
Wooden popsicle sticks or heavy wooden skewers
6-8 medium apples
2 Tbls water
2 cups coarsely chopped roasted salted peanuts
Directions
Line baking sheet with lightly buttered wax paper and place chopped peanuts in shallow pan; set aside.
Wash and thoroughly dry apples and firmly insert popsicle stick or skewer in stem ends.
Melt unwrapped caramels and water until smooth either in heavy saucepan over medium heat or in microwave in 60 second bursts, stirring between bursts until smooth.
Dip apples in melted caramel, spooning caramel over to evenly coat.
Turn to allow excess caramel to drip off then turn apple upside down (stick down) and hold for 15-30 seconds to allow caramel to set slightly.
Place apple (stick up) in pan of peanuts and let sit while you dip next apple.
Continue until all apples are dipped, transferring apples from peanuts to prepared baking sheet once caramel is set.
When all apples are dipped, transfer baking sheet to refrigerator and chill until set.
Hints: if caramel becomes too firm, microwave for 30 seconds until necessary consistency. As you get to the bottom of caramel, tilt bowl and roll apple in caramel, spooning as needed to fully coat.
